Dili, 25 September 2026 (iklik.info) – Timor-Leste – Thirty-nine Timorese businesses are strengthening their business pitching and partnership skills as part of preparations to connect with Australian and regional commercial partners. The training forms part of preparations for the Invest Timor-Leste Business Forum on 29 October 2026.
Invest Timor-Leste 2026 promotes two-way trade and investment between Timor-Leste and Australia. It is supported by the Australian Government in partnership with Timor-Leste’s Vice Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Tourism and Environment, TradeInvest Timor-Leste, and the Timor-Leste Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The participating businesses were identified through an expression of interest and business survey process led by the Timor-Leste Chamber of Commerce and Industry and TradeInvest Timor-Leste.
The one-day workshop focuses on helping businesses define their value proposition, develop and practise concise business pitches, and strengthen the materials they use when approaching potential partners and investors. Selected businesses will then receive targeted one-on-one coaching to refine their propositions and prepare for commercial discussions.
Where suitable commercial matches are identified, participating businesses will have the opportunity to meet with visiting Australian companies during the Invest Timor-Leste Business Forum.
Ms Fabia Shah, Counsellor at the Australian Embassy, participated in the session and said:
“Strong commercial partnerships start with businesses understanding what they can offer each other. This program is helping Timorese businesses sharpen their propositions and prepare for practical conversations with Australian companies about trade, investment and partnership opportunities.”
The training provides participants with practical capabilities they can continue to use in future business development, investor engagement and commercial negotiations.
TradeInvest Timor-Leste Executive Director Mr Duilio Araujo said:
“The value of this program goes well beyond one business forum. We want Timorese businesses to build the skills and confidence to identify opportunities, present strong commercial propositions and develop partnerships in Australia, across ASEAN and in other international markets.”
Invest Timor-Leste 2026 builds on the Timor-Leste Australia Economic and Business Conferences held in 2024 and 2025 and seeks to deepen Australian commercial engagement with Timor-Leste across agribusiness, tourism and renewable energy.
